Dominik Szoboszlai conceded his future at Liverpool is "not in my hands", amid ongoing negotiations over a new contract.

The Hungary international, whose existing deal runs until 2028, has been one of the Reds' standout performers this season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists across all competitions.

Szoboszlai has also registered more shots from outside the box than any other player in the Premier League this term (34), as well as the highest percentage from distance among all players to have at least 25 attempts (74%, 34 from 46).

Liverpool reportedly opened talks over fresh terms earlier this campaign, but the 25-year-old midfielder says there has been no development yet.

"Nothing yet, to be honest," he said when asked for an update.

"From now on, it is not in my hands. It works this way. There is no progression, but if the right offer comes, then let's see.

"Let's see what happens. Hopefully, everyone will be happy at the end. Of course [I want to stay]. I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans. Let's see what the future holds.

"I am the type of guy where it is never enough for me. I can always be better and better, so there is no limit up there. I would like to get as many goals as I can, as many assists and win as many trophies as possible. That's my plan."

Szoboszlai has also demonstrated his versatility this season, filling in at right-back when Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have been out injured.

He did so again during Saturday's 4-1 victory over Newcastle United, but does not see it becoming a frequent occurrence.

"It's not long-term, not even medium-term to be honest, in my head," he said of the position change.

"As I've said before, I'm a midfielder and, hopefully, our right-back is going to come back from injury, and I can get back in the middle.

"But if the team needs me, or the coach needs me there, I will play and try to give my best. But now Wata [Endo] is ready to play, Curtis [Jones] is also ready to play there, so we have quite a few options now."
