'Why not?' – Antetokounmpo eyeing return to Greece after NBA career

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has confirmed he would like to finish his professional career in his native homeland of Greece.

Antetokounmpo has spent his entire NBA career in Milwaukee, who selected him with the number 15 overall draft pick back in 2013.

He previously played for Filathlitikos for two seasons before the Bucks drafted him 12 years ago.

The two-time league MVP led the franchise to a championship in 2021 and averaged 30.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game last season.

"I'm 30 years old, I can play in the NBA until I'm 36-38. I'd like to end my career in a Greek team, why not?" he said on ANT1's "The 2night Show".

"I don't want to live in the United States. As soon as I leave the NBA, I want to return to Greece.

"I could end my career here, whether this team is called Filathlitikos, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, or Aris, I'm talking about all the teams now."

Antetokounmpo is preparing for his 13th campaign in the NBA after the Bucks were beaten in the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers last season.

He has been the subject of trade rumours in recent years, and again this past offseason, with reports of a switch to the New York Knicks quickly shut down by Antetokounmpo.

The 30-year-old is under contract for the next two seasons before he has the chance to enter free agency in the summer of 2027.
