The Phoenix Suns will be without Jalen Green for a while.
Green sustained a right hamstring strain during Saturday’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers and will be re-evaluated in four-to-six weeks, multiple media outlets reported on Tuesday.
Green, who was acquired last offseason in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, had his season debut delayed due to hamstring issues and may have re-aggravated the injury over the weekend.
Green was impressive in his Suns debut, scoring six 3-pointers and totalling 29 points in just 23 minutes last Thursday.
With Green injured, Royce O’Neale was promoted to the starting lineup in Monday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Phoenix opened the season with tempered expectations after going 36-46 last season and trading away Durant and Bradley Beal in the offseason. However, the Suns have won five of their last six games to get to 6-5.
The second overall draft pick in 2021, Green flashed plenty of talent and athleticism in his four seasons with the Rockets but was often criticised for shot selection.
In 309 career games, Green has averaged 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 42.2% from the field and 34.2% from 3-point range.
