'Sensitive' Pulisic hit hard by goal drought, claims Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri insists Christian Pulisic's goal drought is "hitting him harder" as AC Milan's struggles in front of goal continued against Juventus.

The two Champions League hopefuls played out a 0-0 draw at San Siro on Sunday, with the point keeping Milan three points ahead of Juve in third, and six points clear of fifth-placed Como.

Khephren Thuram saw a first-half goal disallowed, while Alexis Saelemaekers' second-half effort rattled the crossbar as both sides struggled to find a breakthrough.

Pulisic started the match but has now failed to score in any of his last 16 Serie A games.

It is his longest career drought in Europe's top five leagues, equalling a run with Chelsea in the Premier League between October 2022 and May 2023.

He failed to have a shot against Juventus and had just one touch in the Bianconeri's box, while he also failed to create a chance for his team-mates.

"Christian is a very sensitive man, and this drought is hitting him harder," Allegri told DAZN Italia.

"He is also someone who struggles more with the physicality of duels and the lack of a centre-forward, but I must try to give a balance to this team, as we have an objective to achieve.

"I realise he is not entirely suited to this. I had asked him to play centre-right tonight and [Rafael] Leao centre-left, so we were without a centre-forward.

"Rest assured, by the end of the season, Pulisic will have given his contribution."

Milan have now failed to score in two consecutive Serie A home games for the first time since October and November 2024.

They have also drawn a blank in three of their last four top-flight matches, as many times as in their previous 35 in the competition.

Despite their recent struggles – they have won just two of their last six games in the league – Allegri was not disappointed by a draw, claiming the point suited Milan more than Juventus.

"It was a very balanced, tactical game, with a great deal at stake. We had a couple of situations, as did Juventus," Allegri said.

"Juve have a lot of strength in depth with players who can come off the bench and take men on down the wings, but my lads defended very well, apart from one cross that [Jonathan] David didn't get his head to.

"We can be content with the point, as it allows us to take another small step forward. We are mathematically now just six points away from securing our target, so that means winning two games.

"The draw was the right result; these are balanced matches where an incident can change the game, and it was a fair result."
