Real Madrid's winning start to pre-season has come to an end after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Fiorentina.

Goals from Endrick and Alexis Ciria saw Los Blancos take a 2-0 lead inside 24 minutes, but Roberto Piccoli and Moise Kean struck either side of half-time at Sportpark Klagenfurt.

Jose Mourinho's side were ahead after just 12 minutes as Endrick took in a cut-back from Alvaro Carreras before firing past David De Gea and into the bottom-right corner.

Madrid found a second before the half-hour mark after Eduardo Camavinga drove into the box and put the ball on a plate for Ciria to sweep in with a first-time finish.

Fiorentina, however, managed to score completely against the run of play when Piccoli beat Andrii Lunin at the near post following a perfectly weighted pass from former Madrid academy player Alex Jimenez.

After finding the back of the net with their first shot, Fiorentina carried their momentum into the second half as Rolando Mandragora shot narrowly over from a free-kick before Kean headed in from Nicolo Fagioli's cross just 85 seconds after his introduction off the bench.

It was a cagey finish as neither side pushed hard for a winner, but the final chance fell the way of Madrid debutant Carlos Espi in stoppage time, though he could not direct his header from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross on target.

Endrick stakes his claim

Endrick spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan with Lyon and impressed for the Ligue 1 club, helping them finish in the Champions League places, though the 20-year-old is determined to get more minutes with Los Blancos.

His impressive finish in the first half will do his chances of featuring more often under Mourinho no harm, while the Brazilian also recorded the most touches in the box for Madrid (six) and competed in the most duels (11).

Denzel Dumfries, meanwhile, made his debut for Madrid, though played further forward in a right-wing role, with Alexander-Arnold behind him; the Dutchman typically operated as a right wing-back for Inter.

Many expected Dumfries to challenge Alexander-Arnold for the right-back role, but Mourinho opted to use both of them together as Dumfries held the width while the former drifted into midfield.

Alexander-Arnold led Madrid in shots (three), all of which came from outside of the box, as Madrid produced 0.75 expected goals (xG) to Fiorentina's 0.95.
