The New York Liberty have enjoyed plenty of big wins in the last year, but none were bigger than their latest.

The defending champions matched their own WNBA record by draining 19 3-pointers in Sunday's emphatic 100-52 rout of the Connecticut Sun that set the largest margin of victory in franchise history.

The 48-point blowout was the second-largest win in league history and improved the Liberty to 7-0 for the first time since the WNBA's inaugural 1997 season.

Sabrina Ionescu led the way with 18 points and went 4 of 6 from 3-point range, while Jonquel Jones chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds in the first game of the three-week-long Commissioner's Cup in-season tournament.

Breanna Stewart and Leonie Fiebich also had 13 points for New York, which led by as much as 57.

The Liberty had a chance to set the 3-point record, as they had 18 makes through three quarters before going 1 for 5 from deep in the final period.

Connecticut (1-6), meanwhile, struggled mightily from beyond the arc, making just 6 of 28 3-point tries (21.4 per cent). Tina Charles and Jacy Sheldon led the Sun with 10 points apiece.

Lynx pull away from Valkyries to stay unbeaten

The Minnesota Lynx are also off to a 7-0 start after using a strong second half to earn an 86-75 victory over the Golden State Valkyries.

Napheesa Collier sparked the Lynx's latest win by compiling 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Minnesota also received 20 points from Courtney Williams and 16 from Kayla McBride.

The Lynx are off to their best start since winning the first nine games of their 2017 WNBA championship season.

Golden State has now lost three straight after winning two of the first three contests of their debut season. Veronica Burton led the Valkyries with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Kyara Linskens had 14 points off the bench.

Linskens recorded all of her points in the first half to help the expansion Valkyries own a 52-51 edge at the break, but Golden State went 3 of 15 from the field during a third quarter in which the Lynx took control.

Williams hit a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 6:59 left in the period to begin an 11-2 run that gave Minnesota a 67-58 lead, and the Lynx went into the fourth holding a 68-60 advantage.

Minnesota then dominated the early stages of the fourth, scoring 15 of the period's first 16 points. Collier and Natisha Hiedeman each scored five points during the flurry, which Williams capped with another 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 83-61 with under six minutes remaining.

Aces hold on to extend Storm's skid

The Las Vegas Aces got 19 points from A'ja Wilson and held off a late Seattle comeback attempt to come away with a 75-70 victory over the suddenly-struggling Storm.

Las Vegas (4-2) had a 17-point fourth-quarter lead cut down to three inside the final minute, but former Storm great Jewell Loyd made two critical free throws with 6.1 seconds left to seal the Aces' second straight win.

Loyd, who spent her first 10 seasons with the Storm before being traded to the Aces in January, finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Jackie Young added 12 points for Las Vegas, while Chelsea Gray chipped in 10 points and six assists.

Gabby Williams had 20 points for Seattle (3-4), but the Storm's top two players both struggled in the team's third consecutive defeat since a 102-82 home rout of the Aces a week ago.

Nneka Ogwumike was held to nine points on 4-of-13 shooting, while Skylar Diggins mustered 11 points while going 5 of 15 from the field.

Young's eight first-quarter points helped the Aces build a 27-17 lead after one period, and they stretched the margin to 44-32 at half-time. Their advantage reached 17 after Aaliyah Nye's three-point play to start the fourth quarter put the Storm at a 64-47 deficit.

Seattle chipped away late and ultimately got to within 73-70 when Williams capped an 8-0 run with a layup with 37.8 seconds left. The Storm failed to score on their next possession, though, before Loyd was fouled and made both free throws to keep her ex-team at bay.
