The Golden State Warriors were able to win Game 1 of their Western Conference semi-finals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves without having Stephen Curry for much of the way.
They'll now be trying to do so again without their star guard for at least three more games.
The Warriors announced Wednesday that Curry is dealing with a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring and will be sidelined a minimum of one week, making Game 5 of the best-of-seven series on May 14 his earliest possible return date.
According to ESPN, an exact timeline for the two-time NBA MVP's return will depend on how his leg responds to treatment.
Curry appeared to sustain the injury when making a 3-pointer early in the second quarter of the Warriors' 99-88 Game 1 win on Tuesday. The 11-time All-Star briefly remained in the game and also hit his next shot, but was removed at a timeout shortly afterward and did not return.
Stephen Curry, who exited last night’s game against the Timberwolves with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter with a strained left hamstring, underwent an MRI this morning.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged during his post-game press conference that Curry was unlikely to play in Thursday's Game 2.
“He’s obviously crushed, but the guys picked him up and played a great game,” Kerr said. “Obviously we’re all concerned about Steph, but that’s part of the game. Guys get hurt, and you move on."
Curry has been Golden State's leading scorer during the post-season at 22.6 points per game and has shot 40 per cent from 3-point range while averaging 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists in the Warriors' eight play-off games.
The Warriors figure to rely more heavily on Buddy Hield and Brandin Podziemski for perimeter scoring during Curry's absence. Hield has stepped up as of late, scoring a post-season career-high 33 points in the Warriors' Game 7 win over the Houston Rockets in the first round and adding a team-high 24 in Tuesday's victory over the Timberwolves.
"Our guys did a great job of moving on and getting a great win 48 hours after a Game 7 road win," Kerr said after Tuesday's win. "It’s an amazing group of guys. They compete. They’re together."
Following Thursday's Game 2 in Minneapolis, the Warriors will be at home for the following two games before the series returns to Minnesota for an if-necessary Game 5 on May 14. Game 3 will take place on Saturday with Game 4 set for Monday.
