The expansion Toronto Tempo defeated the Chicago Sky 85-68 on Sunday to move into the win column for the first time in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Brittney Sykes led the way for Toronto (6-5) with 25 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and Nyara Sabally added 15 points and six boards.
The Tempo improved to 1-1 in the Eastern Conference standings of the Commissioner’s Cup, the league’s annual in-season competition that features a 49-game schedule from June 1-17.
The teams with the top record from each conference in the tournament will face off in the championship game on June 30.
The Sky (4-7) got a season-best 18 points and 10 rebounds from Azura Stevens in falling to 1-2 in Commissioner’s Cup action.

Sparks 89, Fire 72
Los Angeles (5-6) snapped a three-game losing streak while keeping expansion Portland (6-7) winless in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Nneka Ogwumike had 20 points and a season-high 17 rebounds for the Sparks, Dearica Hamby contributed 22 points and 12 boards, and Kelsey Plum added 16 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Los Angeles moved to 1-2 in the Western Conference standings of the tournament and dropped the Fire to 0-3.
Portland, the Seattle Storm (0-3) and Connecticut Sun (0-2) are the only teams that haven’t won a Commissioner’s Cup game this season.
Megan Gustafson scored 16 points and pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds for the Fire, who dropped their season-high third in a row and lost for the fourth time in five games.
