Caitlin Clark had 37 points and 10 assists, and Kelsey Mitchell scored 30 as the Indiana Fever blew past the Chicago Sky in the second half of Sunday’s 113-90 victory.

Clark set a career high with eight 3-pointers and Mitchell made six shots from beyond the arc to help Indiana (25-14) establish a franchise record with 18 3s.

The Fever are percentage points behind the fourth-place Atlanta Dream in the WNBA standings, with both teams trailing the third-place Las Vegas Aces by one game.

The top four teams get home-court advantage in the first round of the play-offs.

Chicago (15-23) entered on a season-high three-game winning streak and led by one point at half-time, but the Fever cruised in the second half to eliminate the Sky from play-off contention.

It was the teams’ first meeting since Chicago’s DiJonai Carrington was ejected for committing a Flagrant 2 foul on Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham in the Fever’s 90-86 win on August 8.

Aces move closer to second place

A’ja Wilson had 27 points and Jackie Young scored 21 as the Las Vegas Aces defeated the banged-up Toronto Tempo 88-78 to climb within one-half game of second place in the WNBA standings.

Defending champion Las Vegas (26-13) is right behind the Golden State Valkyries, with both teams unlikely to catch the league-leading Minnesota Lynx.

Wilson added seven rebounds and seven assists for the Aces, who are one game ahead of both the fourth-place Atlanta Dream and fifth-place Indiana Fever.

Expansion Toronto (11-26) played without All-Star Marina Mabrey (adductor), Brittney Sykes (left foot), Nyara Sabally (calf), Maria Conde (calf) and Aneesah Morrow (left knee).

Mabrey is expected to be evaluated in a few weeks, while Sykes and Morrow will not return this season.

Mystics clinch play-off berth

The Washington Mystics secured their first play-off spot since 2023 by rallying to defeat the expansion Portland Fire 105-100.

The Mystics (22-15) trailed by five points after three quarters before scoring 40 in the fourth to win for the 10th time in 13 games.

Shakira Austin set a career high with 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Kiki Iriafen added 18 points and 10 boards to lead Washington.

Carla Leite had 27 points and 11 assists in a costly loss for the Fire (15-22), who fell 6 ½ games behind the Dallas Wings for the eighth and final play-off spot in the league.

Dallas can wrap up that last berth with a win over Portland on Tuesday.

Wings tie Dallas-era wins record

The Wings matched their most wins in a single season since relocating to Dallas in 2016 and inched closer to securing a play-off spot with a 92-70 win over the WNBA-worst Seattle Storm.

Dallas (22-16) also won 22 games in 2023, the last time the team reached the postseason.

Paige Bueckers led the way against Seattle (7-31) with 32 points, including 18 in the first quarter when the Storm combined for 17 points.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft hit all six of her shots from 3-point range while adding four rebounds and four assists.

Jessica Shepard posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Wings to go with four assists.

Rookie Flau’jae Johnson had 23 points and six rebounds for the Storm, who lost for the 14th time in 15 games.
