The Los Angeles Lakers are hopeful that the injury sustained by Luka Doncic against the Philadelphia 76ers is nothing serious as they enter a critical part of the season.
Los Angeles' 119-115 win over Philadelphia was overshadowed by Doncic limping off the court in the second quarter, with the issue suspected to be in his hamstring.
The Lakers initially described the Slovenian's injury as left leg soreness, but head coach JJ Redick said Doncic would undergo an MRI on his left hamstring Friday.
Doncic scored 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and five turnovers in 16 minutes of play before subbing out with three minutes of the first half left.
"Yeah, he felt some soreness in his hamstring, so he didn't feel like it was good enough to go back in," Redick said.
"Neither did [our] medical [staff], so we held him out. And he'll get some imaging. I mean, too early to say if there's an injury, but he just had a sore hamstring."
Doncic did not emerge from the locker room after half-time, with Rui Hachimura taking his place and finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Doncic has already missed eight games this season through injury. He came into the Lakers' latest game leading the league in scoring, having averaged 33.4 points per game.
It was just the 10th game this season that Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves all featured together for the Lakers.
James missed the first part of the season because of sciatica in his lower back, while Reaves has just returned from a 19-game absence with a left calf strain.
Reaves scored 35 points in just 25 minutes to help lead the Lakers back from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to help Los Angeles improve to 31-19 for the season.
The Lakers are fifth in the Western Conference and face the Golden State Warriors this Saturday, though Doncic's availability is yet to be determined.
"Hopefully nothing major," Reaves said of Doncic's injury. "We need him.
"He's our best player and the engine [for] a lot of the stuff we do. Hopefully, we get good news [Friday], and I wish him nothing the best."
