‘We lacked effort’ – Tudor slams Tottenham players after Fulham defeat

Tottenham boss Igor Tudor criticised his side for a lack of effort as their relegation woes worsened following a 2-1 defeat away at Fulham.

Spurs made a poor start and went 1-0 down early on through Harry Wilson’s volley, though the visitors believed Raul Jimenez had pushed Radu Dragusin in the build-up.

They went further behind after the break as Alex Iwobi swept home a delightful effort from outside the area, which found the net via the inside of the post.

Tudor’s men got a goal back through substitute Richarilson but still fell to a fourth league defeat in succession, and the Croatian admitted his side were below par in all departments.

He told Sky Sports: "We were not good, we lacked everything. Attacking and defending, Fulham were much better.

"There are problems here, big problems."

Tudor has overseen a second straight loss since taking over from Thomas Frank, while Spurs have now equalled their longest winless run in the Premier League (10 games), which previously occurred under Ossie Ardiles in 1994.

Despite a dreadful run of form, which has left the north London giants just four points above the relegation zone, Tudor reiterated the need for his side to remain mentally fresh ahead of their next run of matches.

He said: “We are just thinking about the next game.

“We don't need to think about that [relegation]. Not because it cannot happen, but we must focus on growing our mentality as a team, on our concentration, physically.

“These are the only goals we must have."

Fulham boss Marco Silva praised Iwobi’s display as his side completed a double over Tottenham for just the second time, having first achieved the feat in the 2003-04 season.

Iwobi played a starring role, creating the most chances of any player on the pitch (four), in addition to his fantastic goal.

Silva told BBC Sport: “It's one of his best goals, he is capable of doing these types of things.

“He is stronger when he tries to choose a corner and make a strong pass. It was a brilliant moment for him.

"It was a great performance overall. From an offensive point of view, we enjoyed it – we were dynamic, creating chances, making it difficult for them."
