Niko Kovac wants Borussia Dortmund to "determine our own destiny" as they look to pile the pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich when they face Wolfsburg.
Bayern have failed to win their last two games, unlike Dortmund, who closed the gap at the top to just six points after coming from behind to beat Heidenheim 3-2 last weekend.
That was Dortmund's fourth consecutive Bundesliga victory, while they are currently unbeaten in their last 13 matches in the competition (W9 D4), the longest current streak in the league.
After the win over Heidenheim, defender Nico Schlotterbeck said Dortmund had their eyes on the trophy, but Kovac is also aiming to put space between them and the chasing pack behind them.
"The table looks good. We can be very satisfied," he said. "But the teams behind us will do everything they can to catch up with us.
"We have to keep working and can't rest on our laurels.
"We can determine our own destiny and ensure that the others don't catch up with us."

While Dortmund sit second in the table, Wolfsburg are down in 14th, just one point above the relegation play-off place.
They have won just one of their last six matches in the German top flight, and though that victory did come at home against St. Pauli, they are winless in three since then.
Kovac is returning to his former club, from which he was sacked back in May 2024 before joining Dortmund in early 2025, and the Croatian believes the table does not tell the story of Wolfsburg's season.
"Nineteen points do not reflect the quality of this team," Kovac said of Wolfsburg.
"In the game against Koln [a 1-0 loss], they had a great second half, and they should have won. The team has a lot of quality."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wolfsburg – Jenson Seelt
Wolfsburg will be without Moritz Jenz, who is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Jenz has the best passing accuracy (89.5%) in the squad, with Seelt not far behind on 86%, while he also has a 72% tackle success rate, which could prove to be key.
Borussia Dortmund – Serhou Guirassy
Guirassy scored his first Bundesliga brace since August 2025 last time out – he netted as many goals in that game as he had in his previous 16 top-flight appearances combined (two).

Guirassy has already scored eight Bundesliga goals against Wolfsburg; against no opponent has he scored more (eight also against Union Berlin).
MATCH PREDICTION: BORUSSIA DORTMUND WIN
Since their 3-1 victory in the 2015 DFB-Pokal final against Dortmund, Wolfsburg have only won two of 22 meetings against them in all competitions (D2 L18) – most recently suffering three consecutive defeats.
The last two of those have seen them fail to score a goal. In all competitions, the Wolves have failed to score in 13 of their last 19 matches against Dortmund.
Dortmund are enjoying their best Bundesliga season in seven years with 45 points after 20 games; in 2018-19, they had 49 points at the same stage.
BVB have lost just one of their first 20 Bundesliga games this season (W13 D6 L1), something they only managed once before, also in 2018-19.
Wolfsburg have picked up seven points in their last four Bundesliga home games (W2 D1 L1), as many as they managed in the 14 home matches before that, none of which they won (D7 L7).
