Mohamed Salah has not agreed to join Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor, according to the club's president Ertugrul Dogan.

Salah left Liverpool as a free agent at the end of last season, having reached an agreement to terminate his two-year contract – which he only signed in April 2025 – early.

The Egyptian scored 257 goals for Liverpool in 442 games, across all competitions, after joining from Roma in 2017.

Only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) are above Salah in Liverpool's all-time scoring charts, and he is also the Reds' all-time top scorer (191) and assister (93) in the Premier League.

Since departing Anfield, the 34-year-old has been strongly linked with several Saudi Pro League clubs, as well as Istanbul giants Besiktas.

Besiktas' sporting director Onder Ozen recently revealed talks had been held with Salah's camp, but said financial demands from his advisors had caused negotiations to stall.

Reports then suggested Trabzonspor had hijacked Besiktas' move for Salah and had arranged for him to arrive in Turkiye on Sunday, which saw the club hold its 59th anniversary celebrations.

But when asked about those reports by A Spor, Dogan said: "There is no such agreement. As for plans to bring him to Trabzon, there is no such plan; there is nothing to it.

"If there were such a plan, information would be provided from our side, the press would be informed, and so on. There is no such thing.

"Salah is a very professional, highly successful player known worldwide. He is one of the players with the best careers out there. 

"Of course, who wouldn't want Salah? That is a separate matter.

"But as of now, there is no such agreement involving our club. I am emphasising this, though perhaps I am not getting the message across clearly: there is no such agreement."

Asked if he had spoken to Salah about a potential move to the Senol Gunes Sports Complex, Dogan said: "I don't want to talk about this. 

"Of course, the fans want to see a player like Salah, and so do I. Bringing in certain players requires a certain stance and a certain way of behaving. 

"That's what I'm trying to do as president right now. I know people's focus is on this; there's no agreement, no planned trip. We will inform our community and our fans as soon as there is a development."

Trabzonspor finished third in the Super Lig last season, eight points behind champions Galatasaray and five adrift of runners-up Fenerbahce. 

They will be involved in the play-off round to qualify for the Europa League, alongside the likes of Benfica, Rangers, Salzburg and Besiktas.
