San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award on Monday and set some records along the way.
A finalist for the NBA MVP award that will be announced later during the play-offs, the 22-year-old Wembanyama became the youngest player to be named Defensive Player of the Year and the first unanimous selection.
His win made the Spurs the only franchise in NBA history to have four players capture the award, joining Alvin Robertson (1986), David Robinson (1992) and Kawhi Leonard (2015, 2016).
Wembanyama entered more elite company by joining Robinson and Michael Jordan as the only players in league history to take home both the Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

The 7-foot-4 Frenchman led the NBA for the third straight season in blocks per game (3.08), topped the league in defensive rating (101.1), was second in defensive rebounds per game (9.5) and fourth in overall rebounding (11.5).
The Spurs went 62-20 this season to earn the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and opened their play-offs with a 111-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.
Wembanyama established a Spurs record for the most points in a play-off debut, scoring 35 to break Tim Duncan’s mark of 32 points set when the Hall of Famer and five-time NBA champion made his post-season debut in 1998.
