Victor Wembanyama believes the San Antonio Spurs' win over the Detroit Pistons confirmed their "progression" and "potential" as a team in the NBA.
The star center led the way on Monday as they beat the Eastern Conference leaders 114-103 at Little Caesars Arena, extending their winning run to nine games.
The Frenchman recorded 21 points, 17 rebounds, six blocks and four assists in the road win, while Devin Vassell scored a game-high 28.
There was some tension in Detroit, with the Pistons' Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren, who was recently suspended by the league, involved in an altercation with the Spurs' Keldon Johnson after an offensive foul on Stephon Castle.
Detroit saw Duren and Isaiah Stewart suspended earlier this month after a physical scuffle broke out during their win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Wembanyama was glad to see his side win against play-off contenders, who also play a very physical game.
"It's definitely a game where we confirmed progression and confirmed potential as well," Wembanyama said. "That was a good test."
"This is probably the team that is most capable of playing that [bully] ball.

"They are going to test your toughness," Spurs coach Mitch Johnson added. "Detroit just toes the line. I don't think they cross it."
Wembanyama went six-for-16 from the field, but was aided by Vassell's seven three-pointers and double-digit scores from both Julian Champagnie (17) and Castle (16).
De'Aaron Fox also added 10 points, seven assists and seven rebounds as the Spurs made 18 of their 40 attempted shots from beyond the arc.
"We know how talented Wemby is and how impactful he can be, but it's not a one-man show over there," Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.
"They have a bunch of talented perimeter players."
