Evann Guessand and Simon Adingra were among the goals as Ivory Coast continued their World Cup preparations with a dominant 4-0 friendly win over South Korea.  

Ivory Coast – who will face Germany, Ecuador and Curacao in Group E at this year's tournament – were scintillating in attack at Stadium MK, though South Korea struck the woodwork either side of half-time through Seol Young-woo and Lee Kang-in.

After Hwang Hee-chan was off-target from the edge of the area, Martial Godo showed tremendous strength and balance to tee up Guessand for Ivory Coast's 35th-minute opener.

South Korea continued to apply pressure as Seol's curler bounced off the base of the far post, but Ivory Coast got their second goal on the stroke of half-time as Adingra rolled Cho Yu-min, opened up his body and dispatched a fine finish beyond Jo Hyeon-woo. 

And the contest was effectively over when Godo prodded home from close range just after the hour mark, having reacted quickest to Guessand's shot being blocked by Jo.

South Korea had introduced captain Son Heung-min from the bench shortly before the third Ivory Coast goal and they later hit the post again through Lee, but they conceded again from the final kick of the game as Wilfried Singo swept Amad Diallo's cutback into the bottom corner.

Data Debrief: Ivory Coast shaping up nicely

Particularly with third-placed teams now able to reach the last 32 under the expanded World Cup format, Ivory Coast will have high hopes of getting past the group stage in North America this summer.

And they look to be building momentum ahead of the tournament, having only lost two of their last 13 games in all competitions (eight wins, three draws).

South Korea had 12 shots to their 13 here, but the chances the Ivory Coast created were of a far higher quality as they won the expected goals (xG) battle by 3.22 to 1.06.
