Six Nations: Injured Feyi-Waboso replaced by Roebuck for Wales clash

England will be without Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for their Six Nations opener against Wales on Saturday after he sustained a leg injury.

Feyi-Waboso was named in Steve Borthwick's starting line-up earlier this week, but left training early on Thursday. He has been replaced by Tom Roebuck on the right wing.

It will be Roebuck's first appearance since starting against New Zealand in November, with a toe problem keeping him sidelined since.

Scrum coach Tom Harrison confirmed Feyi-Waboso's misfortune, and he confirmed that the 23-year-old would not be rushed back into action.

"In an ideal world, we'd have given him an extra week, but the world isn't ideal as we know," Harrison said.

"We do a really good job of 'what ifs' and what might happen and combinations.

"Does it disrupt some plans? Yes it does, because it changes a player. But we've done everything we can to make sure the next player is ready."

It is another setback for Feyi-Waboso, who missed last year's entire Six Nations campaign following shoulder surgery.

On his return, he was sent off in an England A game against France as he was red-carded for a high shot on Antoine Hastoy ahead of their summer tour.

Therefore, he missed both Test wins in Argentina before returning in their one-off victory over the United States.

He featured throughout their successful autumn series, starting all four Tests against Argentina, New Zealand, Fiji and Australia, scoring two tries.

Feyi-Waboso has been a regular for Exeter Chiefs this season in the Premiership and European Challenge Cup.
