Substitute Fabio Silva struck in the 95th minute as Borussia Dortmund came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig.
Christoph Baumgartner's first-half double put Leipzig in a commanding position at Red Bull Arena.
Yet, Romulo's own-goal and Silva's stoppage-time effort meant Dortmund only slipped eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who won 3-2 against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier on Saturday.
Leipzig took the lead in the 20th minute when Yan Diomande turned Julian Ryerson inside out, and delivered a low cross for an unmarked Baumgartner to flick home with the outside of his boot.
Baumgartner added a second in similar fashion before half-time, again guiding a low cross from the left – this time from David Raum – past Gregor Kobel.
Dortmund halved the deficit early in the second half when Ramy Bensebaini's flick-on hit Willi Orban, before bouncing in off the head of Romulo.
Niko Kovac sent Julian Brandt, Silva and Karim Adeyemi on as he tried to get his side back in the game, and the trio combined to the desired effect in stoppage time, with Adeyemi setting up Silva for a dramatic leveller.
Dortmund should have won it in the 98th minute when Brandt sprung the offside trap and fired straight at Maarten Vandevoordt, rather than squaring to Adeyemi.

Data Debrief: Leipzig let points slip again
Baumgartner put Leipzig in a commanding position, but they were unable to see out what would have been a second straight Bundesliga win for the first time since a run of three across October and November.
They have now lost 18 points from winning positions this season – only Wolfsburg (23) have let more slip through their fingers.
Dortmund, meanwhile, held onto an unbeaten streak that now stands at 16 games, which is their best run since 2023.
