Ireland’s Jamie Osborne will join the British and Irish Lions squad as a back-up option to Blair Kinghorn.
Kinghorn suffered a knee injury in the Lions’ win over ACT Brumbies, but the Scottish full-back received “positive news” after a scan.
With full-back Hugo Keenan’s game time also being limited by illness and injury, Osborne will join the Lions camp on Saturday, a week ahead of the Test series against Australia.
Lions head coach Andy Farrell gave Osborne the first of his eight Test caps against South Africa last summer, although the 23-year-old is used to playing in midfield rather than full-back.

“Blair Kinghorn received positive news following a scan on a knee injury sustained against the Brumbies in Canberra on Wednesday night,” a Lions statement read.
“The Lions medical team will manage his return to training over the coming days.
“Ireland's Jamie Osborne will join the squad to provide additional training cover. Osborne is currently with the Ireland squad in Portugal and will arrive in Brisbane on Saturday to meet up with the squad.”
The Lions face the Wallabies in the first Test on July 19 but have one more pre-series tour match against an Australia and New Zealand invitational side on Saturday.
