Donovan Mitchell has transformed the Cavaliers into NBA title contenders since his arrival in Cleveland, and the team has rewarded him for his sensational play.
Mitchell agreed to a four-year, $273million maximum contract extension with the Cavaliers on Tuesday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
The deal also reportedly includes a player option for the 2030-31 season and a full trade kicker, which would give him a bonus should he be traded.
Mitchell was entering the last guaranteed season of his contract, which was signed in July 2024.

Mitchell, 29, ranked seventh in the NBA in scoring at 27.9 points per game and eighth in 3-pointers made per game at 3.2 this past season, along with averages of 5.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds while earning All-NBA second-team honours in leading the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference finals, where they were swept by the New York Knicks.
After the Game 4 loss, Mitchell expressed his desire to stay with the Cavs.
"I love it here," he said when asked about an extension. "I don't know how else to say it. I have no doubt these guys can get there. We have unfinished business."
Since being traded from the Utah Jazz to Cleveland in the summer of 2022, Mitchell has led the Cavaliers to the play-offs in each of his four seasons after the team missed the play-offs in each of the prior four seasons following LeBron James' second departure from the Cavs.
Cleveland is reportedly a possible landing spot for James in the coming weeks.
In Mitchell's four seasons with the Cavs, he has been selected to the All-NBA first team once and the All-NBA second team twice.
A seven-time All-Star, Mitchell has career averages of 25.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds in nine NBA seasons since being drafted 13th overall by the Jazz in 2017.
