The New York Knicks are heading home with a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals after surviving the San Antonio Spurs 105-104 on Friday to push their postseason winning streak to 13 games.

It was a back-and-forth affair early, with San Antonio taking a nine-point lead after the first quarter before New York surged to a 56-52 advantage at half-time.

The Knicks extended their lead to nine points after the third quarter and pushed it to 14 with 6:07 remaining in the game, but the Spurs went on a 14-0 run to tie it with 2:37 left.

The teams battled down the stretch and San Antonio went ahead by two with just under a minute to go on Victor Wembanyama’s three-point play.

Jalen Brunson answered with a jumper for New York, and the score remained tied until Brunson was fouled after stealing the ball on an errant pass by Wembanyama with 9.5 seconds left.

Brunson made one of two free throws to put New York ahead 105-104, and the Knicks held on as Wembanyama missed a jump shot that would have won the game for San Antonio and evened the series.

Instead, the Knicks head back to Madison Square Garden needing two wins to capture their first NBA title since 1973.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points, 13 rebounds and four assists, Brunson scored 20 to go along with six assists, five boards and five steals, and Mikal Bridges added 20 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Knicks.

New York became the third team to win the first two games of the NBA Finals on the road, joining the 1993 Chicago Bulls and 1995 Houston Rockets – who both went on to win the title.

The Knicks’ 13-game play-off run is the second-longest single-season streak in NBA history behind the 2017 Golden State Warriors championship team that opened its postseason with 15 consecutive victories.

Wembanyama led the Spurs with 29 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, and De’Aaron Fox contributed 20 points and five assists.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday in New York.
