The Sacramento Kings' drive for the best odds in the NBA draft lottery has reached another level.

Two of the Kings' top players in Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine both underwent season-ending surgeries on Wednesday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Sabonis had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, while LaVine had a procedure to repair a tendon injury on his right hand.

At 12-44, the Kings have the NBA's worst record, and with losses in their last 14 games, they are barrelling toward securing the best odds of landing the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft. The teams with the three worst records all will own a 14.0 per cent chance of drafting first overall.

Sabonis initially sustained his injury on November 16, and missed Sacramento's next 27 games. The three-time All-Star returned on January 16, but has appeared in only eight of 15 games since coming back due to left knee injury management and lower back soreness.

LaVine sat out five of the Kings' last 10 games heading into the All-Star break, as he was dealing with finger soreness.

LaVine, 30, is Sacramento's leading scorer at 19.2 points per game, while Sabonis, 29, is averaging 15.8 points and a team-best 11.4 rebounds.
