Despite owning one of the NBA's worst records, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly expected to keep Doug Chrisitie as coach for the 2026-27 season.
The news was first reported by Sam Amick of the Athletic on Sunday.
The Kings enter the final day of the 2025-26 regular season with a 22-59 record, tied with the Utah Jazz for the worst in the Western Conference and fifth in the entire NBA.
This was Christie's first full season as head coach of Sacramento after taking over for Mike Brown as an interim coach in December of 2024.
Sources: Despite the Kings’ brutal season, and amid league-wide speculation that they might make a coaching change, Doug Christie is safe.

The Kings went 27-24 under Christie last season and got the ninth seed in the play-in tournament, where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks.
He then signed a three-year deal last summer for Sacramento's full-time job.
This season, however, has been a disaster with the roster decimated by injuries.
Starter Keegan Murray tore a thumb ligament in the preseason, All-Star Domantas Sabonis has been limited to just 19 games due to a partially torn meniscus and Zach LaVine hasn't played since February 6 because of a finger injury.
The Kings stumbled to a 3-13 start and were never able to recover, losing a franchise-record 16 consecutive games from January 18-February 21.
They've played a bit better in the last month, going 8-9 since March 8, but will miss the play-offs for the 19th time in 20 seasons.
