Antoine Griezmann confirmed that he will stay at Atletico Madrid at least until the end of the season.

The Frenchman, who played a significant role in Atleti's win over Tottenham in the Champions League on Tuesday, was heavily linked with a move to MLS side Orlando City.

Griezmann scored Atleti's second goal in their 5-2 win over Spurs before assisting Julian Alvarez for the team's fifth, giving them a strong chance of reaching the last eight of the competition.

Atleti have scored more goals than any other side in the Champions League this season (29), with this the first time they have scored 5+ in a knockout stage match in the competition.

And after the victory, Griezmann eased any worries over his immediate future at the club.

"I’m very happy here, enjoying it a lot, and what I do on the field speaks for itself," said the 34-year-old.

"We’ll see, but the idea is to go all the way [until the end of the season] and then everyone else can talk."

When asked about Griezmann's statement, Atleti boss Diego Simeone added: "Antoine's explanation makes me happy.

"He knows how important he is to Atletico's history. I hope he has the chance to finish as he deserves, in the best possible way.

"We have to take care of him so he can help us and we can have an extraordinary season.

"It's been fantastic, and we need him as he is, in this moment of vision, talent, running, and we need him as he is."

Atleti led 4-0 after just 22 minutes against Spurs, the second-earliest a team has ever led by 4+ goals in a Champions League match after Real Madrid versus Dinamo Zagreb in November 2011 (20 minutes).

Despite their impressive performance, Simeone wanted more from his team in the second half.

"We were better in the first half. Not so much in the second," said the Atleti boss.

"The substitutions didn't work as well as usual; they were less intense, aggressive, and involved. They couldn't have the impact we wanted. Now we wait for Saturday's game."
