Green not losing sleep over knock-on effects of Warriors' Giannis chase

Draymond Green is not losing sleep about how the Golden State Warriors' pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo might affect his future ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline.

Reports suggest the Bucks are open to trading Antetokounmpo in the coming days, and with the two-time MVP currently sidelined due to a calf strain, he may have played his final game for the team.

Antetokounmpo has cut a frustrated figure all season, with the Bucks sitting at 18-28.

He recently accused his team-mates of playing selfishly, and with their season unlikely to be salvaged, Milwaukee are considering letting him depart and taking an aggressive approach to the 2026 draft.

The Warriors have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Antetokounmpo, as they attempt to give Stephen Curry another shot at winning a fifth NBA championship.

They would have to make significant sacrifices to get that deal done, including up to four first-round picks. It is also believed they would consider trading any player on their roster – other than Curry – to clinch a deal for Antetokounmpo.

But speaking after a 131-124 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, when he had 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds, Green said he was not worried about the future.

"I've been here for 14 years. I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving," Green said.

"But if I'm traded, that's part of the business. I ain't losing sleep though. I slept great last night."

Green was drafted 35th overall by Golden State in 2012 and has won four NBA titles and one Defensive Player of the Year award with the team.

Green is often consulted by the Warriors' hierarchy on personnel decisions, but when asked if he would speak to general manager Mike Dunleavy about the team's approach to the trade, he said: "I'm not going to go up there and be like, 'Yo, so tell me what y'all doing.'

"I'll be the same as I always am. My phone is always on. I'm always willing to collaborate in any way I can."
