Fulham 3-1 Burnley: King leads comeback to boost European hopes

Josh King got a goal and an assist as he led Fulham to a 3-1 comeback win over relegation-threatened Burnley to boost the Cottagers' hopes of a European place.

Burnley had taken the lead on the hour as they looked to get just a second victory in 22 matches, but instead, they edged closer to relegation from the Premier League.

Zian Flemming darted between two Fulham defenders only to see his diving header saved early on, while Harry Wilson tested Martin Dubravka at the other end.

And the Burnley goalkeeper was kept busy at the start of the second half, too, pushing away Oscar Bobb's flick before smothering King's one-on-one attempt.

Flemming found the breakthrough soon after, guiding a half volley past Leno after meeting Lyle Foster's first-time cross.

But King pulled Fulham level just seven minutes later; Dubravka spilled a catch, and King was alert on the spin to fire in his first Premier League goal.

He then picked out Harry Wilson on the right, with the Welshman cutting inside to pick out the near-bottom corner to flip the script, though Bernd Leno protected their lead with two smart stops to keep out Quilindschy Hartman and Loum Tchaouna.

Raul Jimenez then wrapped up the scoring in the 95th minute. He was nudged by Josh Laurent as he took a shot, and with the Burnley defender shown a straight red card as the last man, the Fulham substitute then beat Dubravka with his stuttering spot-kick.

Data Debrief: King makes the difference

At 19 years and 77 days, King became the second-youngest player to both score and assist a goal in a Premier League game for Fulham, after Collins John against Blackburn Rovers in April 2004 (18y 178d).

It was a big performance by the teenager to help Fulham to a much-needed win. This was the third-latest Fulham have conceded the first goal (60th minute) and still gone on to win a Premier League match.

As for Burnley, it was the latest they have scored an opener and still gone on to lose in the competition.

Flemming's seventh away goal of the campaign was not enough to spark Burnley to a win, though it is no surprise, with Fulham having 22 shots worth 3.23 expected goals (xG) to the Clarets' nine attempts (1.24 xG).
