Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick says Luka Doncic has had one of the best months in modern-day NBA after he broke new ground.
Doncic scored 42 points, with 12 assists, in the Lakers' 127-113 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday to take his total for March to 600 points.
It was Doncic's third straight 40-point game, and he surpassed the franchise record for the most points scored in a calendar month, beating Kobe Bryant's 578 from 2006.
He has joined Michael Jordan, in 1987, as the only players to reach the 600-point mark in March, and one of only 10 players to score that many points in a single month.
The Slovenian, who also eclipsed 15,000 career points in this game, reached the tally despite missing the Lakers' win over the Washington Wizards due to a one-game suspension for picking up his 16th technical foul of the season.
"I think Luka has had as good of a month as anybody that I can remember in the modern NBA, at least since I've been part of it," Redick said.

When asked about his scoring run, Doncic said: "If you don't win, it doesn't really mean anything. So, the run [15 wins in 17 games in March] we've been on, it means a lot."
Austin Reaves scored 19 points, while Jake LaRavia, Rui Hachimura and LeBron James each had 14, with the latter racking up his 1,229th win (regular season and playoffs) of his career – it is the most by any player in NBA history.
It was also the 100th win of Redick's coaching career as he became the first Lakers coach since Phil Jackson to guide the team to back-to-back seasons with 50 wins.
"Don't deserve to be mentioned along with Phil or Pat [Riley] or any of those guys," Redick said.
"I've got a lot left to accomplish, for sure. I've had the same [coaching] staff for the most part, [in] both years. I think just we are resilient, and we're resolved."
