Dembele promises more of the same after 'incredible' Champions League thriller

Ousmane Dembele promised Paris Saint-Germain will continue to do what they do best as they head into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich.

PSG hold a slender advantage heading to Munich, after a remarkable 5-4 victory at the Parc des Princes.

It marked the highest-scoring semi-final in the history of the competition, and the joint-highest when counting for the European Cup (along with Rangers 3-6 Eintracht Frankfurt in 1959-60).

With Vincent Kompany suspended and watching on from the stands, Bayern went ahead thanks to Harry Kane's 17th-minute penalty, but European champions PSG flipped the script thanks to goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Joao Neves.

Michael Olise brilliantly restored parity, before Dembele slammed home from the penalty spot after Alphonso Davies was harshly pulled up for handball before half-time.

Kvaratskhelia and Dembele doubled their tallies as PSG raced clear early in the second half, yet Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz dragged Bayern right back into the tie.

And Dembele has vowed there is more excitement to come in next week's contest in Munich.

"Two great teams that attack, that don't hesitate," he told Canal+.

"It's a Champions League semi-final. We're happy with the result, even if at 5-2 we stopped playing a bit.

"We were lacking a bit of everything. It was an incredible match. We're going to Munich to win and qualify. We're not going to change our philosophy, we're going to attack, they're going to attack."

PSG captain Marquinhos told Canal+: "All football fans loved watching this match.

"On the pitch, it was a pleasure to play this game. These are the matches we dream about all year.

"Both teams have this mentality of never giving up, of always pushing forward."

Marquinhos made his 120th Champions League appearance, drawing level with Roberto Carlos as the Brazilian player with the most appearances in the competition, with only Lionel Messi (163) having featured more times among all South Americans.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, Marquinhos said he expects another "crazy" game at the Allianz Arena.

"Two teams that want to win, we need to go there with the same mentality, same personality, so we can do an amazing job there, like we did here. We need a lot of effort," he said.
