Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has vowed "the best is yet to come" from the reigning world and European champions.

De la Fuente has agreed a contract extension to stay in charge of Spain through to the end of Euro 2032.

Since De la Fuente replaced Luis Enrique in 2022, Spain have been dominant.

La Roja won Euro 2024 and then repeated the trick at this year's World Cup.

Spain are on a 38-game unbeaten run in competitive matches, which is a record for a European or South American team.

But De la Fuente insists Spain are not done yet.

"I only think about time and how fragile we are. Life has taught me to be very short-sighted," he said.

"My goal is to arrive in good shape for [Euro 2028]. But of course, I'm especially excited about reaching the 2030 World Cup, but also, now, the 2032 European Championship. We're going to try, with all our strength.

"The best is yet to come. The third star [World Cup crown] would be like something out of a movie."

Spain face England on Saturday before taking on Croatia and Czechia, in their opening Nations League games.
