Thibaut Courtois could face several weeks out after suffering a quad injury.
Courtois was taken off at half-time during Real Madrid's 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Madrid have now confirmed the Belgium international sustained a muscular injury in the rectus femoris of his right quadriceps.
While Los Blancos did not give a timescale for Courtois' return, the general diagnosis for such an injury is a recovery time of four to six weeks.

Beyond Sunday's Madrid derby, Courtois could then face a race against time to be fit for Los Blancos' Champions League quarter-finals tie with Bayern Munich.
Madrid, who are second in LaLiga, also face Mallorca, Girona, Alaves and Real Betis in April.
Courtois has kept 15 clean sheets in 41 appearances this season for Madrid, making 120 saves.
He has conceded 38 goals (not including own goals) from an expected goals on target conceded of 40.9.
