Another Mohamed Salah goal was not enough to preserve Trabzonspor's unbeaten start to the Turkish Super Lig season, as Amed completed a come-from-behind 2-1 win.

Having netted twice on his first start in Turkiye in a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, Salah was on target again on Monday, starting inside his own half as he raced onto Ernest Muci's through-ball and finished coolly in the 11th minute.

But newly promoted Amed were the better side for long periods and Melih Kabasakal's handball in first-half stoppage time provided their route back into the game.

Mbaye Diagne's penalty was parried by Manchester United loanee Andre Onana, but Yira Sor was quickest to the loose ball to slot home the equaliser. 

The hosts' first shot on target of the second half did not arrive until the final minute, but Gift Orban bundled into an unguarded net after some slack set-piece defending allowed Mehmet Yesil to centre from the right, sealing the turnaround.

Trabzonspor shocked by promoted opposition again

Salah cut a forlorn figure on Thursday, when a 4-0 defeat to Ferencvaros dashed Trabzonspor's hopes of appearing in the Conference League proper, with the former Liverpool attacker substituted early after his team were reduced to nine men.

And things were not much better this time out, despite the Egyptian getting on the scoresheet. His figure of 0.62 expected goals accounted for a huge portion of Trabzonspor's tally of 0.84, while Amed put up 2.39 xG.  

Trabzonspor's eight shots were their joint-fewest in a Super Lig game under Fatih Tekke's management, having also had eight against Fenerbahce in September 2025 and versus Caykur Rizespor in October 2025.

And under Tekke, they have dropped points in five of their nine Super Lig matches against promoted teams (W4 D2 L3), with this result dropping them to 11th in the table.

It has not been the start to the Salah era that anybody at Trabzonspor would have envisaged.
